Clear Terms, No Fine-Print Games

These terms govern your use of this website and any services you engage Sydney Book Publishers to provide. We have written them to be read, not skimmed — if anything is unclear, ask us before you engage us and we will explain it plainly.

1. About These Terms

By using this website or engaging Sydney Book Publishers (“we”, “us”, “our”) for services, you agree to these terms. Individual projects are confirmed in a written proposal or agreement; where a project agreement and these terms differ, the project agreement prevails for that project.

2. Our Services

We provide publishing support services to authors, including editing, proofreading, cover and interior design, formatting, ghostwriting, publishing setup, distribution assistance, and book marketing. We are an independent services company: engaging us does not transfer any ownership of your work to us.

3. You Keep Your Rights and Royalties

Your manuscript, your ideas and your finished book remain your intellectual property. We claim no rights over your work, take no share of your royalties, and place no restrictions on where or how you publish. Materials we create for you as part of a paid engagement (such as a cover design or formatted files) become yours on full payment for that engagement.

4. Quotes, Payment and Cancellation

  • Quotes are provided free of charge and are valid for 30 days unless stated otherwise.
  • Prices are confirmed in writing before work begins. There are no hidden fees; anything outside the agreed scope is quoted separately before we do it.
  • Payment schedules (for example a deposit and milestone payments) are set out in your project agreement.
  • If you cancel a project, you pay only for work completed to that point, and we hand over everything completed to date on settlement.

5. Your Responsibilities

  • You confirm the material you give us is your own work (or that you hold the rights to it) and does not infringe anyone else’s rights.
  • You are responsible for reviewing and approving deliverables — a book is a creative work, and final sign-off always rests with you as the author.
  • You agree to provide the materials and feedback we reasonably need to keep your project moving.

6. Timelines and Revisions

Estimated timelines are given in good faith and depend on the length and condition of the manuscript and how quickly feedback is returned. Each service includes the revision rounds stated in your proposal; additional rounds can be quoted on request.

7. Third-Party Platforms

Publishing and retail platforms such as Amazon KDP, IngramSpark and others are operated by third parties. We can set up and manage listings on your behalf, but we do not control those platforms’ policies, pricing, approval decisions or royalty structures, and we are not responsible for changes they make.

8. Confidentiality

We treat your manuscript, personal information and project details as confidential, before and after your engagement. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle personal information.

9. Website Content

The content on this website is provided for general information and is not professional legal, financial or literary-agency advice. While we keep the site accurate and current, we make no warranty that every detail is free of error. The website design, text and imagery are our property or used with permission and may not be reproduced without consent — with the obvious exception that our authors’ books belong to our authors.

10. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law, including guarantees that services will be provided with due care and skill. To the extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim arising from a service is limited to the amount you paid us for that service, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss such as lost profits or lost sales.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and any dispute is subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version is always published on this page with its date of last update; changes do not apply retrospectively to projects already agreed.
